I was searching for new ideas for my secret santa prize, Pinnacle Vodka, the other day when I came across Southern Shelle’s blog space. She is a big fan of sweet tea and vodka so I gave it a shot and super loved her own instructions for southern sweet tea. I’ve always followed my grandmothers recipe but it wasn’t quite as smooth as I like. Don’t tell Yaya…
Follow me to Shelle’s and give it a try.
She uses a tea kettle, which I lack. So I made do with a 3qt. sauce pan and lid. As she mentions, sugar is more of an opinion than a part of the directions. I went with 1.5 cups of sugar, taking in consideration the ice I was going to add. It turned out really smooth. I was afraid it was going to be too strong because of how many family size tea bags went in but I was wrong. That’s apparently what I’ve been doing wrong all this time. Search over. Thanks Shelle!
P.S. Her vodka to tea ratio is 1oz. to 8oz. tea :D
